Biography
Among the pioneering forces of the global psychedelic trance movement, Etnica is the Ibiza-based Italian duo of Max Lanfranconi and Maurizio Begotti, shaping electronic music for more than three decades. Emerging from the late 1980s and the golden era of Goa Trance, their sound — deeply psychedelic yet unmistakably Mediterranean — has appeared on influential labels including Spirit Zone, Blue Room, Dragonfly, Flying Rhino, Solstice Music and Neurobiotic, with tracks such as "Vimana" and "Tritonite" becoming enduring classics. Albums like The Juggling Alchemist Under the Blacklight and Alien Protein sit alongside their celebrated side project PLEIADIANS, whose releases Identified Flying Object, Family of Light and Seven Sisters explored a cinematic, cosmic dimension of electronic music. Their creative universe extends well beyond the dance floor, from projects connected with Sony PlayStation's Gran Turismo to sound design work associated with Ferrari and Lamborghini, while their independent label ETNICANET Records has played a role in discovering and supporting emerging talent.
